Enviromental High-Resolution
Magnetotellurics
Digital Magnetotelluric Technologies' Z-SCAN survey can be
used to delineate the areal extent and volume of underground solution caverns used
by the storage industry. DMT's Z-SCAN technology recently gained approval from the
Railroad Commission of Texas as a surveying device to meet the Railroad Commission's
requirements for information on the depth, geometry, and estimated capacity of caverns
in salt formations. DMT's surface based Z-SCAN surveys provide a non-invasive, highly cost
effective alternative to down-hole sonar and other surveying methods. Survey results of an
independently conducted Z-SCAN and down-hole sonar survey confirm their close agreement.
CONTAMINATE PLUME DEFINITION:
Work continues on mapping different types of contaminate plumes in the subsurface. As more sites are evaluated, a better definition of detectable contaminate concentrations will be established.
